De La Hoya still claims to this day that he beat Floyd and had provided the blueprint to beating Floyd in this fight. I don’t know what he was thinking because after watching this fight it was a lot of him throwing punches in bunches and not landing enough of them. Great fight , the build up to it was legendary and broke records across the board as far as money generated and money paid to the fighters is concerned. There also was the family drama behind it with Floyd Mayweathers being torn apart on who to support , his son or De La Hoya whom he trained for several years leading up to the fight. Floyd Sr did create a little controversy with choosing to go with the tickets De La Hoya provided for him to attend and then with his thoughts on the fight after the post fight in ring interviews with the fighters.
